The redevelopment at East Riding Leisure Goole is now just months away from reopening.
The cladding and windows on the front of the building have now been installed, work on the brand-new learner pool is nearing completion and tiling is under way. Tthe changing village is also being tiled and the mechanical and electrical elements are being installed.
The redevelopment of the centre will see a refurbished gym, café, swimming pool, health suite, a bowling alley, soft play and a Ninja Tag gamified obstacle course.
Councillor Nick Coultish, portfolio holder for culture and leisure said:
“We’re all so excited in Goole for the centre to open. It’s going to be great to have a new leisure centre but also things to do with friends and family like the bowling and Ninja Tag which will give people the chance to come together and enjoy themselves.
“It’s great that the community are getting involved, we’ve had public votes to name the soft play and also the bowling which will be called Dockyard Bowl.
“This is going to be a fantastic facility for Goole, while it has been a wait for it to be completed it will be worth it and it’s great that this coincides with the bicentenary year of the town.”
The initial build of East Riding Leisure Goole is due to be completed this summer and handed over to the council for the final fitting and interiors. The centre is due to open in late Autumn.
The building is being funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council with a contribution from Goole Town Deal.
