Young people involved with East Riding’s Youth Justice Service have been showcasing their creative talents in a community project at Hull Animal Welfare Trust.
As part of a restorative initiative, several young people designed and painted vibrant artwork to brighten up the dog run at the South Cave site. Their designs were entirely their own, bringing colour and positivity to the space for staff, visitors, and of course, the animals.
Merlin Joseph, Executive Director for Children, Families and Schools, said: “This is a fantastic example of how the Youth Justice Service supports young people to give back to their communities while building new skills and confidence. From art and music to sport and gardening, these projects play a key role in helping young people lead fulfilling lives and move positively away from crime.”
The project was supported by the Youth Justice Service team and funded through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme over the Easter holidays.
