A scheme to improve the road surface on parts of the A63 Melton interchange is underway.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is investing £230,000 to upgrade the road on the Woodside bridge roundabouts and the overbridge on the A63 Melton interchange.
The resurfacing project is due to last for two weeks, with all work being carried out overnight, between 8pm and 5am, in order to cause the least amount of disruption to traffic.
The roads will reopen during the daytime.
This week, from 16 to 21 June, the eastbound slip roads of the A63, the A63 overbridges, the northern roundabout and South Lawn Way will be closed to traffic overnight, along with the slip road from Monks Way East onto the A63 westbound. The A63 westbound can however be accessed from the roundabout.
Access into Melton village overnight will be via the Welton junction at Brough.
For businesses on the Melton Industrial Estate, vehicle access overnight will be available only from the westbound carriageway of the A63, and access onto the A63 will be westbound only.
Signed diversions will direct traffic to the next junction off the A63 and back to the interchange.
Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “This is a significant investment by the council to improve the condition of these roads at a very busy interchange on the A63.
“We have scheduled these works overnight to cause the least interference to traffic, and we would like to thank motorists and local residents for bearing with us while we complete this scheme.”
