Hessle Sporting Club completes Clubhouse extension

Hessle Sporting Club has completed the extension of their clubhouse, using an award of £201,020.60 from East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of commuted sums from local housing developments.

The project was also funded by the Football Foundation who contributed £223,930, Awards for All awarded £10,000 and the club raised £26,224.52 towards the final cost of £416,175.12.

Hessle Sporting Club has evolved into a vibrant community hub, hosting a variety of activities for all members of the community including a local food bank, walking football, and numerous volunteer groups.

The extension has significantly enhanced the facility, with one side expanded to provide more activity space for stakeholders and the other side offering much-needed changing space to accommodate over 40 football teams.

The pavilion now features two additional changing rooms, two new storerooms, and a much larger social space. Additionally, the roof has been fitted with solar panels.

Charlie Walker, Chair of Hessle Sporting Club, said, “This isn’t just a new clubhouse, it’s a place for friendships, memories, and plenty of laughs. It’s for the community to come together on and off the pitch. Here’s to kick-offs, comebacks, and countless cups of tea.”

Councillor Gary McMaster, the council’s cabinet member for planning, housing and infrastructure said: “I am very pleased that this significant award of commuted sums has helped the club to significantly extend their clubhouse to benefit the local community. I would like to thank the hard work of those who run this great facility and have helped to make these improvements a reality.”
