The people of West Yorkshire are being asked to shape the future of public transport in the region.
With buses coming back under public control, funding being announced for a new tram system, and plans for a fully integrated transport network, the public are being asked for their views on these plans and other transport improvements being made.
The next round of ‘Talking Transport’ events will be held over the coming weeks as the West Yorkshire Combined Authority works with local councils and the public to create better transport that works for all.
The events are an opportunity for people to share their views and ensure that services and investment match their priorities.
The Combined Authority has ambitious plans to create a fully integrated transport system, with continued improvements to bus, active travel, rail and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
The events will take place in Keighley, Dewsbury, Leeds, Hebden Bridge and Castleford this month, and will allow the public to give their feedback in each of the areas.
Attendees will hear what is being done to improve transport locally and across West Yorkshire. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions and share their experiences of getting around the region.
Cllr Peter Carlill, Deputy Chair of the West Yorkshire Combined Authority Transport Committee, said:
“’We are determined to create a better-connected region that works for everyone.
“These events will give the public the opportunity to help shape the future of transport in West Yorkshire.
“We encourage as many people as possible to sign up for these free events and have their say.”
