Cllr Mike Ross, Leader of Hull City Council, said: Cllr Mike Ross, Leader of Hull City Council, said: “Talking about money isn’t always easy, but sometimes it absolutely the right thing to do when you need to get the help that is out there. This campaign is about helping people feel more confident, supported and highlighting where they can access help.

“Our city centre event is a chance for residents to speak directly to local experts in a friendly, informal setting. Whether it’s just a quick question or you need help finding the right support, this is a valuable opportunity to get free, honest advice from people who are here to help.

“It’s an event for anyone who would like advice about money, whether that’s general budgeting help, or advice on specific issues like problems with gambling, dealing with loan sharks, and how to protect from scams. It’s a great starting point for taking the first step to tackling a problem, or to just understanding and managing money better”.

Talk Money Week 2025 runs from November 3 – 7, plus the event on Saturday November 8, and encourages residents to speak about their finances. Whether it’s chatting to a partner about bills, asking a friend for budgeting tips or finding out what support is available, starting the conversation can lead to real positive change.
