Hull City Council has announced a major upgrade for Kingswood Park, on School Lane, to tackle long-standing flooding issues and enhance play facilities.
During bad weather, the park is often unusable due to water pooling under the play equipment.
To address these challenges, Council Leader, Mike Ross, has granted funding from the Leader’s Fund for several improvements including:
- Replacement of one piece of play equipment
- Removal of existing grass mat surfacing across the site
- Excavation of all equipment surfacing pads
These improvements will create raised areas around play equipment, reducing water retention and ensuring a safe, accessible play area all year round.
Cllr Ross said: “Kingswood is a thriving community, and its families deserve high-quality outdoor spaces, so I’m delighted to support this scheme.
“These improvements will make the park usable all year round, giving children a safe place to play.
“I look forward to seeing the benefits for local residents once the work is complete.”
There will be consultation with residents before building works begin.
