20mph zone and speed bumps for Woodhall Way, Beverley

A new road safety scheme is due to be installed in Molescroft, Beverley.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is looking to introduce a road safety scheme on Woodhall Way, Molescroft, by creating a new 20mph zone and laying speed bumps on a 450m length of the road between the junctions of Eden Road and St Leonards Road.

The measures are due to be put in place later this year following a collision study carried out by the council after a cluster of injury accidents were recorded on Woodhall Way.

The scheme aims to reduce the speed of vehicles in the area, which is well used by pedestrians and cyclists, especially with the row of shops and nearby St Mary’s Primary School.

Residents living in the area are being encouraged to give the council their views on the scheme.

Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “We want to make this stretch of road safer for people and we hope residents will support the scheme.”

Anyone wanting to comment on the scheme is asked to email the council at HighwayandRoadSafetyEngineering@eastriding.gov.uk
