Artist designs new information panel at Humber Bridge Country Park

A new information panel has been installed at Humber Bridge Country Park, reminding visitors about enjoying the park responsibly and following the Countryside Code,

The panel was designed by notable local artist Eleanor Tomlinson, best known for her sketch of Queen Elizabeth II with Paddington Bear.

It was installed by the Friends of Humber Bridge Country Park, a community group, collaborating with East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

The panel features a dog called Bramble who follows in the footsteps of Shaun the Sheep, who has been promoting the code nationally for several years.

The panel is the latest project undertaken by the Friends group, working together with the East Riding of Yorkshire Council and supported by Natural England. The project received sponsorship from the 2025 Hessle West Open Gardens event and local company GGP Consult.

Councillor Nick Coultish, East Riding of Yorkshire Council cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism said “The Humber Bridge Country Park is an invaluable local treasure, and it is vital that we help safeguard it for generations to come.”

“We’re proud to support this initiative, and hope that the panel will enhance the area and help remind visitors of how to act in a respectful manner in the park.”

Chair of the Friends of Humber Bridge Country Park Sharon Degnan said “The Park is used by an amazing 150,000 people every year and is also home to a diverse range of wildlife.”

“Being aware of the Countryside Code will help everyone enjoy the Country Park in their own way whilst sharing it respectfully with other visitors and with nature.”

Clare Webb, Countryside Code Project Manager for Natural England, said: “The Countryside Code exists to ensure everyone can enjoy the outdoors responsibly whilst protecting the animals and wildlife that call these spaces home.

“Natural England is committed to connecting more people with nature, and this artwork will provide essential guidance to help visitors navigate Humber Bridge Country Park while at the same time creating a truly welcoming environment for all to enjoy.”
