Motorists are being advised of changes to the traffic management arrangements at two roundabouts in Kingswood, Hull which are currently undergoing improvement works.
As part of the scheme at Ennerdale Leisure Centre Roundabout, Ennerdale (north) will be closed from Thursday 21 May 2026 for around 10 weeks. The closure will apply between the Thomas Clarkson Way / Ennerdale junction and Littondale. However, Littondale will remain open throughout.
The closure will enable CityFibre to carry out diversion and disconnection works, which need to take place to allow for road widening and drainage improvements as part of the scheme.
To minimise disruption, Northern Powergrid are also undertaking additional planned maintenance works during the same closure period. Carrying out these works concurrently removes the need for a separate closure of Ennerdale in the future.
Following consultation with the city’s bus operators, a diversion route has been agreed to ensure that Sutton Park continues to receive an uninterrupted bus service.
One bus stop will be temporarily closed at Ennerdale (southbound), between the Thomas Clarkson Way / Ennerdale junction and the Sutton Road / Ennerdale junction.
The signed diversion routes, will be as follows:
Buses via:
- Holwell Road
- Nidderdale
- Littondale
(and vice versa, depending on direction of travel)
All other traffic:
- Ennerdale
- Bude Road
- John Newton Way
- Thomas Clarkson Way
(and vice versa, depending on direction of travel)
In addition to the traffic management changes at the Ennerdale Leisure Centre Roundabout, changes will also be made as part of the Wawne Road / Bude Road Roundabout scheme.
The emergency access road through Foredyke Nature Reserve will be closed from 5pm on Friday 1 May 2026.
The northbound lane closure on Wawne Road has been lifted and the contractor is relocating to Holwell Road to undertake electrical diversion works.
The works will start on Thursday 30 April 2026 and will last for a week. There will be a southbound lane closure, followed by a northbound lane closure. A minor diversion route will be in place diverting all traffic via Wawne Road and Honiton Road.
On Friday 8 May 2026, the lane closures on Holwell Road will be lifted and a southbound lane closure on Wawne Road will be introduced.
To support bus users and motorists, the diversion route via the emergency access road through Foredyke Nature Reserve will be re-opened and reversed to run from Wawne Road to Bude Road.
To ensure the continued safety of pupils at Kingswood Academy, manned stop/go signs will remain in place on the emergency access road at 7.30-9am, 11.30am-1pm and 3-4pm.
HGVs will need to follow a diversion route via Bude Road, John Newton Way, Raich Carter Way, Barnes Way, Richmond Way, Grosvenor Road, Richmond Lane, Diversity Drive and Wawne Road.
