Starting this month, eight free child car seat safety events will take place across Hull this year, offering families expert checks and advice to ensure their car seats are correctly installed and fully compatible with their vehicle and child.
Following last year’s events, data revealed that more than half (62%) of child seats checked in Hull between April 2025 and March 2026 by Good Egg Safety, were incorrectly fitted.
Further, 33% had major errors or were incompatible with the vehicle or child, which could result in serious harm in a collision.
The events will take place at the following locations, dates and times:
- Tuesday 14 April– Asda car park, Kingswood Retail Park, Bude Rd, HU7 3DA
- Tuesday 19 May – Asda car park, Mount Pleasant, HU9 2BN
- Tuesday 16 June – Kingston Retail Park, Kingston St, HU1 2TR
- Tuesday 14 July – Asda car park, Hessle Road, HU3 4PE
- Tuesday 18 August – Asda car park, Kingswood Retail Park, Bude Rd, HU7 3DA
- Tuesday 15 September – Asda car park, Mount Pleasant, HU9 2BN
- Tuesday 13 October – Kingston Retail Park, Kingston St, HU1 2TR
- Tuesday 17 November – Asda car park, Hessle Road, HU3 4PE
Good Egg Safety, an internationally awarded, non-profit organisation, funded by Government and local authorities, is a specialist in child passenger safety. They provide expert guidance, training, and resources to ensure families travel safely.
Safer Roads Humber, the regional road safety partnership, expressed delight in supporting the events. Ruth Gore, spokesperson for the partnership, emphasized: “Our mission is to reduce the number of people killed and injured on our roads, and these events exemplify effective partnership working – a joint commitment to safeguarding our most vulnerable passengers.”
The events are free and will run from 10am to 3pm. No booking is required.
