Help shape Hull & East Yorkshire’s economic future

Residents, businesses and local organisations in Hull and East Yorkshire are being asked to help shape a plan for the region’s economic future.

Feedback from a public consultation, launched by Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority, will enable the Authority and its partners to set clear priorities and remove barriers to growth. They say it “will also ensure that investment in transport, skills, innovation and place-based projects is aligned for maximum impact.”

The consultation paper outlines the region’s strategy for investment and economic development, showing how it can attract new investment, drive innovation and deliver growth that benefits the community.

Mayor of Hull and East Yorkshire, Luke Campbell MBE, said:

“This is a huge opportunity for our region. Decisions about our future that used to be made by the government can now be made by us.

“I want people and businesses across Hull and East Yorkshire to be involved and tell us what will make a difference. Getting this plan right means we can invest in the right areas, remove barriers to growth and back local ambition.

“I’m committed to making decisions with our communities – not for them. Your views will guide our next steps and drive the future of our region.”

With 630,000 residents and 20,000 businesses generating £15 billion annually, Hull and East Yorkshire has major strengths in key industries, but continues to face challenges around productivity, skills and transport.

Through the Local Growth Plan, the Combined Authority aims to unlock this potential by driving innovation, widening opportunities and attracting investment.

Cllr Anne Handley, investment portfolio holder at Hull and East Yorkshire Combined Authority, said:

“Investment is at the heart of creating a stronger, more resilient economy for Hull and East Yorkshire.

“This consultation is a chance for everyone to help shape where and how we invest, ensuring that every pound delivers real benefits for our communities. I encourage people to share their views and work with us to create a brighter future for our region.”

Feedback on the priorities and challenges outlined in the consultation paper will help shape the first draft of the plan and ensure it reflects the region’s ambitions.

Residents, businesses, public services, colleges and universities, and the voluntary sector are invited to share their views at www.hullandeastyorkshire.gov.uk/lgp by Wednesday 24 December 2025.
