A further ten riders have joined the Humberside Police Community Safety Mounted Volunteers (CSMV) team.
It takes the total team to 20 volunteers.
Since its creation in July 2025, the team have completed 1,777 hours of patrol across the Humberside region, covering over 3,700 miles. The team have attended local events giving talks about how to safely ride on the road and generic crime prevention advice, security marked over £200,000 worth of tack and horse boxes, supported vulnerable residents, taken part in Farmwatch events and located a high value metal theft.
Sergeant Julie Fenton said
‘The Community Safety Mounted Volunteers are an excellent addition to the force, and a real asset to often-isolated rural communities.
‘People love to interact with the horses and their riders, and their heightened position whilst out riding provides an excellent viewpoint advantage.
‘The team cover a significant amount of rural area which can often go unseen by road or foot, meaning they are able to report and act on rural and wildlife crime.
‘The team work closely with the Rural Task Force and together, they are helping to make the rural and equine communities a safer place to live and enjoy.’
