Andy Knowles has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of York Against Cancer.
He will succeed Julie Russell, who is retiring from the Charity after 20 years of leadership.
Andy will join York Against Cancer after leading his own independent business consultancy service for the last 8 years. He has previously held a UK & Ireland Director role for a large global technical services provider, as well as trustee roles at York-based charities. Andy will take up the role in early 2026, and will lead a new chapter in the Charity’s growth as it looks to deliver and expand its invaluable cancer support services across York, North and East Yorkshire.
Andy commented:
“I feel both honoured and privileged to serve as the new CEO of York Against Cancer. I fully understand the profound impact this organisation has had on local families affected by cancer, and I’m deeply committed to ensuring we continue that vital support.”
Ian Yeowart, Chair of York Against Cancer, said:
“Andy brings valuable experience in the Yorkshire charity and business sectors. I and my fellow Trustees look forward to working alongside Andy as he takes the lead in delivering the many services the Charity offers.”
