Overnight roadworks near North Ferriby this July

Essential overnight road improvements are due to be carried out at a busy junction near North Ferriby in July.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £200,000 to upgrade the road surface and replace foundation layers on the A15 road between the Humberfield roundabout and the junction with Ferriby High Road, where the road connects with the A63.

The work is due to begin on Monday 7 July and will also include clearing its neighbouring footpath of overgrown vegetation.

The scheme is due to last two weeks and will be carried out between 8pm and 5am, Monday evenings to Saturday mornings.

During that time, the westbound slip road off the A63 will be closed, along with this section of the A15.

Traffic for North Ferriby and the Humber Bridge will be diverted along the A63 to the Melton Interchange and back along the A63 for the Humber Bridge.

The roads will be open to traffic outside the working hours.

Adam Holmes, director of infrastructure and facilities at East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said: “These are essential road improvements, and we have scheduled them to be carried out overnight, to cause the least disruption to traffic.

“We want to thank motorists and local residents and businesses in advance for bearing with us while the work is carried out.”

The work is being carried out as part of the council’s planned highway capital programme.
