Essential improvements are to be made to a roundabout and some of its approach roads in Willerby starting in July.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is to invest £230,000 to resurface the road on the Great Gutter Lane roundabout, which links Beverley Road, off the A164, Grange Park Lane and Great Gutter Lane in Willerby.
The timing of the work has been scheduled to cause the least amount of disruption to motorists, residents and local businesses, and fall outside regular trading hours.
The work will take place on Sunday 13, Sunday 20 and Sunday 27 July, with the rest being carried out in August.
Over those first three Sundays, work will be between 4.30pm and 11pm, and will include resurfacing upgrade work on Grange Park Lane.
Grange Park Lane and Great Gutter Lane East will need to be closed during those working hours. People will still be able to access the McDonalds and KFC drive-ins on foot, with parking available on Great Gutter Lane West.
The rest of the work, including resurfacing some approach roads, will continue on weekday evenings (Monday to Friday) starting on Monday 4 August for around two weeks from 7pm to midnight.
For this stage Grange Park Lane will be open but controlled by three-way temporary traffic lights and Great Gutter Lane East will be closed.
The roads will all be open to traffic outside the working hours.
Councillor Paul West, the council’s cabinet member for environment and transport, said: “This is a busy roundabout but needs to be upgraded, so we have purposefully timed our resurfacing during the evening to cause the least disruption.
“Thank you in advance to motorists, local residents and businesses for their cooperation and support while we finish these improvements.”
The work is being carried out as part of the council’s planned highway capital programme.
