Parents and carers of children born between 01 September 2016 and 31 August 2017 are reminded that the deadline for applications for primary school places for September 2021 is looming.

Applications should be made before Midnight on Friday.

Parents and carers can apply for a maximum of five schools and City of York Council recommends that at least one preference should be the catchment school, before the deadline on midnight on Friday 15 January.

Applications can be made online.

All details and answers to frequently asked questions can be found on the council website. This guide contains information on school admissions and appeals processes as well as information on admissions statistics, oversubscription criteria and other information for parents and carers.

Councillor Keith Orrell, Executive member for Children, Young People and Education, City of York Council, said:

Last year 94.2% per cent of families applying for a primary place got their first choice.

“I know that there are so many additional pressures on families at present because of the coronavirus pandemic, but it’s vitally important that parents complete their applications on time.”
