After three months without any signal, there is great news for those left without television and radio signals, as the 80m temporary Bilsdale mast has been switched on.

The switch on - which happened at 2am on Wednesday 13 October - was intended to return signal to around 40,000 homes.

Arqiva told us:

“A new, 80-metre temporary mast at Bilsdale has been switched on. It will restore TV services to approximately 95% of households across the region. Our engineers have worked around the clock over recent weeks to deliver this as the latest step in restoring services following the fire at Bilsdale in August.

The switch on means that viewers will need to retune TVs and a guide on how to do this can be found at bilsdalemast.co.ukThere are additional engineering works throughout the day so we recommend doing this after 5pm today.

As we have previously said, not everyone is covered by the switch on, and further details on help for those whose TV services are still affected from this evening will be set out tomorrow [Thursday] at bilsdalemast.co.uk
