Two people reported dead in Czech Republic train crash

Two people are reported to have been killed in a train crash in the Czech Republic.

According to Czech news agency CTK, seven people are also in a critical condition following the collision between two passenger trains in the southwestern part of the country.

The emergency services said "dozens" of other people had suffered injuries in the accident.

Czech Railways said an international high-speed train that connects the western Czech city of Plzen with Munich in Germany and a local passenger train were involved in the collision.

Police said the crash happened shortly after 8am local time in the southwest town of Milavce.

The regional fire department confirmed that at least two people had died.

Dozens of people were injured, five of them seriously, the Fire Rescue Service of the Plzen region said in a statement.

Four helicopters were transporting the injured to nearby hospitals.
